The Heart Work of Becoming Ourselves
Capricorn Full Moon
Monday, June 29th
7:57 PM EST
Capricorn has a reputation for being practical, responsible, and focused on getting the job done. At its best, it helps us become trustworthy stewards of the lives we are building. At its most guarded, it can convince us that strength means carrying everything alone, with feelings playing second fiddle to time as it marches on.
Across the sky, the Sun continues its journey through Cancer, reminding us that feelings are not interruptions to life, but a vital part of finding our way to what matters.
Together, the Cancer-Capricorn axis asks us to hold both:
Responsibility and belonging
Strength and tenderness
Commitment and care
This Full Moon arrives on June 29 at 7:57 p.m. Eastern Time at 8°15′ Capricorn, illuminating the living relationship between our inner and outer worlds, reminding us that neither can flourish without the other.
As a time-travelling astrologer, I’ve come to appreciate Dietrich Pessin’s work with Moon Families. Each lunation belongs to a larger family of moons that invites us to observe the events of our lives over longer periods of time rather than as isolated events.
Following that thread, this Full Moon connects back to a Capricorn New Moon that occurred just after Christmas and before the New Year, when family stories often have a way of claiming center stage.
Looking back in my journal at what was beginning (and ending) at that time is less about what dreams have been fulfilled and more about checking in with my relationship to the ongoing process of becoming more fully myself.
Cancer and Capricorn form the lineage axis, reflecting the places where we often first learn about belonging, responsibility, care, authority, family, and home. Just a week ago, many of us found ourselves reflecting on Father’s Day. I shared a story about standing up to my own father many years ago, and since then I’ve heard from so many people whose own family stories surfaced in response.
This Full Moon offers another opportunity to pause and notice:
What was life asking of you during that season at the end of 2024?
What was asking for your attention then?
What have you learned since?
And what feels different now?
Mars has just entered Gemini, bringing fresh energy to the conversations we are ready to have and the perspectives we are ready to explore. At the same time, Mercury's retrograde journey through Cancer invites us to look back, not to relive the past, but to understand it with the love and perspective we’ve gained along the way.
As Michael Kiwanuka sings in his song, “I’ve Been Dazed”:
Time is a healer (Capricorn)
Love is the answer (Cancer)
I’m on my way (us - right here on Earth)
Maybe this Full Moon is less about deciding what to let go of and more about recognizing how many mountains you have already scaled at seemingly impossible odds.
Not because your story is finished.
But because you are no longer standing where you began.
As Jupiter prepares to leave Cancer, I return to one of Stephen Forrest’s favorite questions: Where have you been underestimating yourself?
As you read your Rising Sign, notice where life may be inviting you to trust your gifts just a little more.

☿ Mercury in Cancer (Retrograde)
Mercury has begun its retrograde journey through Cancer, inviting us to revisit memories, relationships, and family stories with greater compassion and perspective. ♃ Jupiter in Cancer
Jupiter is preparing to complete its year-long journey through Cancer, offering one final invitation to trust the gifts that have been quietly growing all along. Stephen Forrest often asks, "Where have you been underestimating yourself?" As Jupiter prepares to change signs, this question feels especially timely. What gifts are you finally ready to trust?
